…”Go and prepare the way of the Lord”…, This is John the Baptist. As Jesus approached John, John says to Jesus, “I need to be baptised by you…”, But Jesus answers and says, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” As Jesus was baptised for righteousness, we all must surely be baptised for righteousness. Jesus set forth the example for us. After all, if Jesus was baptised, shouldn’t we also? If it is good enough for Jesus, it certainly is for us? There are so many examples throughout the Gospels and Epistles for us to follow. God is Love! Jesus was humble, meek, gentle, and compassionate, etc. Jesus thought of others and put others first. Following all these examples will actually cause us to be Christ-like! Isn’t that what we are striving for in the first place by calling ourselves Christians and following His word? Jesus was without sin. We too must commit ourselves to that same way of living.
After all, here is what 1John 3:6 says: “Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.”
And here is what 1John 3:9 says: “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.”
So let us all continue to get to that place in God!
Matthew 4:19 “And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Let’s follow our Example to eternal salvation!
