In Isaiah 9:6 it speaks of the prophecy of Jesus, and of His names. If you notice, Jesus is called, “The mighty God” and “The everlasting Father!” This confirms that God is Jesus and Jesus is God, one and the same.

However, there are many who struggle with what NAME to use or say when baptizing?

In Matthew 28:19 we see that Jesus tells the apostles to “baptise them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” There are many that believe that when baptizing, this is the way that it should be said and done, because this is the way Jesus said it. However, when you see the examples in Acts, you will see that the apostles use the NAME Jesus, Jesus Christ, the Lord, and the Lord Jesus. Apparently the apostles knew exactly what NAME to use and what Jesus meant! I’ve heard some preachers say that they baptise in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, because Jesus said it that way. They also say that the apostles use different names, thus their reason also for saying it the way Jesus said. However, if we see it that way, then wouldn’t the apostles be sinning and be guilty of disobedience, and flat out rebelling against what Jesus said to do? Wouldn’t they be accountable for not saying it the way Jesus said? But I believe the apostles knew exactly what Jesus was saying and what Jesus meant by saying, (In the NAME of), therefore the apostles were baptizing people in the NAME of Jesus, because they knew the NAME. Otherwise, Jesus would of simply said, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Father, in the Son, and in the Holy Ghost?” There would be no reason to insert the word, ‘NAME’, if a certain NAME was not to be used. But we know the NAME because of Isaiah 9:6 we know that Jesus is God and is the Father!

Exodus 20:3 says: “Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.”  So we know that there is only one God and not two or three. There is no trinity of God since trinity implies three separate persons. We know that God is One and is three in One. God is the Father, God is the Son, and God is the Holy Spirit, which means that God is Jesus and Jesus is God since Jesus is all three as well.

In John 14:26 we see that the Father will send the Holy Ghost in the name of Jesus. So we know that the Holy Spirits NAME is Jesus, and the Holy Spirit is Jesus. Therefore, when you baptise, you baptise in the “name of Jesus.”

Exodus 20:5 says: “Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, …” So, knowing this, there is no way that God and Jesus are two different Gods? They are simply one in the same, God manifested in flesh. God would not create another God for us to worship besides Himself, this would contradict His own Commandment. God is invisible and a consuming fire, so the only way man could see God would be in the flesh as Man. As Jesus!

1Timothy 3:16 says: “…God was manifest in the flesh, …”

Therefore, when Jesus is telling His apostles to baptise in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we know that the NAME is Jesus!
